Saw in the shop this morning, the charming figures of wuri SS501 on i-weekly. Never think much and purchased a copy! Here's the scanned copy to share with all of you.
The article only covered very little about SS501 and mostly talked about features of various boy bands. I will try to translate the portion on SS501 tonight when I am free.

Boyband 7 'Most'
[Boyband Boy idol group] hit music group, mostly formed by 2 - 5 members. Other than singing, the members also concentrate on their dancing ability, and glamorous stage performance.
Oh boy, where shall we start?
Asia Boyband wave started from end of the 70s, during which the Japan 'Teenage group' has started to root, up till today, Boyband culture has never changed, it remains as 'flowery~beautiful~boy~killer'!
No matter if you are a perfect flowery boy who want to form a group to venture into the music circle, or a fanatic fan, understanding the Boyband 7 'Most', will definitely make you a No.1 boyband guru.

Just by owning charming look could only stay popular for a while but not forever. In order to be an evergreen boy group, the first knack is 'multi-talented'. Even if the singing skill is normal, as long as you can sing and dance and have many different skills, coupled with the correct timing, boyband's route can last for very long. Owning a single skill is small case, having a lot of talents then is essential. This could be learned from Johnnys' Entertainment, their boybands are multi- talented, whether acting, dancing, hosting, shooting CF, cooking or act comical, and even turning somersault also doesn't pose a problem to them, they really live up to their name as 'multi-talented'. Even superstar Kimura Takuya also need to sacrifice his image on stage to pose in ugly outfit to act comical. His fans not only do not despising him but think that even idols have their cute and friendly side.
Shooting drama is also a shortcut to make a boyband famous. Most of the time, as long as one of them become popular, the entire team will in turn become famous.
SS501 who debut in 2005, originally their popularity is normal, easily found B rated group. Starting when Kim Hyun Joong acted in 'Boys over Flowers', his popularity increased tremendously, this has also brought up the popularity of SS501.
Even fingers have different length, the truth of certain members in a group gaining more popularity is norm. The popular member in the group usually has more opportunity in performing, for example Matsumoto Jun from Arashi, Wu Chun from Fahrenheit, Nagase Tomoya of Tokio, and etc...However, it doesn't mean that the other members will not have a chance. Not good in acting, but can speak eloquently, then can further advance as a host, for example Jason Hsu and Zax Wang from 5566, JR from K-One, they have crafted a path for themselves giving outstanding result in hosting and the final results even outshine their singing performance.

Never like Singapore's i-weekly or 8 Days magazine, their editors have poor bad lousy taste and they often seem misformed and write rubbish giving their one-sided opinions.
Thanks for the info and translations.
Yes! And I bet when SS501 comes to Singapore they will change to say they are the best group. A bit angry when they mentioned that the boys are B grade!! They are very popular in Korea! I guess the reporter never do his homework correctly!
Looks like i-weekly is slapping their own face. If they treat the boys as B grade, why did they care and bother to put them on its cover!? Are they suggesting that i-weekly is equally B graded?
How could they said SS501 is B grade!!!Although I know them during BOF, but after finding out more about them, they are popular in Korea & Japan long before BOF. Seem the writer never do his/her HW.
for the second last picture is not really a good thing..in chinese it says “无创意,逊弊了”means " no creativity , no good(lousy)"
no offence..just translating :D
whoa! why on earth would they even bother to put the boys on the cover!!!! grrrrrrrr
but then again, this only proves how popular they've become. we can't expect that all the stuff that we read would all be positive. there will always be trashy ones. and we all know that our boys are super talented and are worthy of all the attention they've been getting.
sorry, i can't hold back... ha ha ha!
thanks for the translation cagali ..hopefully, they will get to see SS501 when the boys come for a visit so they can get a first hand information
The most silly part is their limited knowledge of SS501 by informing readers the dif between rock bands and boy bands. Their lame definition of boy bands are those that don't play musical instruments. In other words, they can only sing and dance. This is so insulting to Leader, if he read that I think he'd have many sad sleepless nites.
From the whole lousy feature on boy bands, the magazine editors put them in a despicable light that they are mere groups of passing entertainers not worthy of any serious musical attention.
yeah, I agree... stupid i-weekly editors :p
heys i-weekly is already very good. u noe for news reporters, they have to be exaggerating..and i-weekly is better than "优一周"..and to say that thier lousy is not true, it's the creation of the name..like the meaning of SS501, 5566, 183 Club..etc.
no offence
Sorry but i think you all misunderstood what the i-weekly is talking about. They are saying, the 7 points to have in order to become a popular boyband. Not the other way round as in i-weekly is using those boybands as example to discriminate them, you all got it all wrong.Example, for the creativity of the names, they are using SS501 as examples as in the creativity of a group name must be as meaningful as SS501. We all know that the 2'S' stands for star, sun, superstar, the '501' stands for 5 members together as 1'. Right? Yes, i know that they say, SS501 is found in the B rated group. But they said, "originally their popularity is normal" and so on, they used originally but after kim hyun joong acted in boys over flower, SS501's popularity increased. You all understand? I'll stop here. I want to tell you all that you all have misunderstood i-weekly's meaning. If you need me to elaborate more, im fine with it.
Yeapp all of you got it wrong. The magazine's talking about the 7 points to be a popular boyband.
It's a cheap magazine anyways, don't expect too much from it.
